John CarlinFincasters is your video fish fix. It's where Emmy award winning production and story telling meet a passion for aquariums. Enjoy. Fincasters was created by John Carlin in collaboration with Jeff Turner of Reef Aquaria Design and Boyd Enterprises and Rob Cook of Pinogy, a company that provides technology solutions to the pet industry.

John Carlin is the owner of Ultimate Aquariums Inc., a brick and mortar aquarium store serving Roanoke, Virginia, specializing in saltwater aquaria. He is also owner of Carlin Aquarium Systems, which installs and services aquariums in western Virginia. John has been a lifelong aquarium hobbyist dating back to the 1970's. But before he became involved in the aquarium business he was well established in broadcasting, working first in radio and then in television as an anchor and reporter. He spent the last 21 years of his broadcast career in Roanoke, Va. as the lead anchor for WSLS-TV, an affiliate of NBC, where he anchored the 5, 6, and 11 o'clock newscasts. He also anchored the Fox 10 p.m. news on WFXR as part of news sharing agreement between the stations. While in broadcasting, John won four Emmy awards for anchoring and reporting, and a Peabody for the station's coverage of the shootings at Virginia Tech. Although he retired from broadcasting in 2008 to pursue careers both in public relations and the pet industry, John still files reports from the field twice a month for FOX, in a segment called John Carlin's Virginia.

Fincasts arose from John's passion for aquariums, and his continued desire to tell stories. He combines the values that went into his award winning broadcast ssegments, with his love for aquariums, to create feature and how-to segments for aquarium hobbyist and others who are simply interested in nature.
